Halloween Recipes

Halloween is approaching and every child is eager to collect their treats.
Feel like preparing some “evil” recipes as well?

Here are two recipes, courtesy of Piraveena Piremathasan, Dt.P, EAD, CBE:

  1. The Black Spider Pizza

Serving(s) : 10

Preparation time : 20 minutes

Ingredients

– 10 – plain/whole wheat mini pita breads
– 1 can (398 mL) – tomato sauce
– 1 cup – mozzarella cheese, grated
– 20 – black olives, ripe, pitted

Preparation

  1. Cut the olives to obtain 16 heads, 16 bodies and 60 small legs (see the picture).
  2. Garnish each pita with tomato sauce, grated cheese and place the pieces of olives to form a spider (see photos)
  3. Bake for 10 minutes at 450°F

  1. Mummy Apples

Serving(s) : 3

Preparation time : 15 minutes

Ingredients :

– 3 apples of different colors (red, yellow and green)
– 6 cloves
– Lemon juice

Preparation

  1. Cut apples in half and use a peeler to peel them to make a mummy pattern (see picture). Spray apples with lemon juice.
  2. Place two cloves on each piece to make the eyes.
